MILLOM returned to league duties against Cumbrian rivals Egremont and served up a 15-try hammering at almost a point a minute.

In the very first minute the backs moved the ball out to Elliot Miller on the wing and his inside pass to stand-off Paul Evans sent him over for the opening try.

The Maroons were doing all the attacking and it was only a matter of time before they increased their lead when prop Craig Wilson crashed over for a converted score in the 10th minute, 10-0.

Millom continued to throw the ball about and on 15 minutes good play between Paul Lupton and Tom Sibley put Graham Lupton over for a try and two minutes later Paul Carter and Evans combined for Sibley to score, both of which Evans added the extras to, 22-0.

The home side were now running the visitors ragged and two converted tries from 17-year-old winger Miller within three minutes of each other put them 34-0 ahead.

With the big crowd shouting for more, it came as no surprise when Brad Crellin put Graham Lupton in and Paul Lupton engineered a further try for Sibley, to go in at the interval leading 44-0.

Within three minutes pf the restart, Millom hit the half century when Lewis Lupton drove the ball in and, when tackled, flipped it up to the supporting Wilson to score between the sticks.

On 50 minutes, more slick passing resulted in centre Steve Dawson going in for a well-deserved try and the same player put Miller in for his third – his second hat-trick for the first team.

Just past the hour-mark prop Carter went in for a good individual try and repeated the feat minutes later, which brought the score to 68-0.

In he last 10 minutes Sibley completed his hat-trick with a converted try and right on time a break by Evans saw substitute Paul Middleton backing up and he stormed over for the final score, 78-0.

This huge win gives the Maroons the best attacking and defensive aggregate in the Conference.

A highlight of the game was the splendid refereeing of Kiwi Cliff Tamou.

Paul Evans was chosen as sponsor’s man-of-the-match, with Graham Lupton getting the opposition coach’s vote.
